Two thieves' plans went awry this weekend when they drove over a speed bump with a bit too much gusto. Snohomish County authorities say two men tried to steal an ATM from the Fred Meyer on 164th Street SW, backing up their white van to the store's front, cutting the cables holding the ATM in place, and loading it into the vehicle. But the men went too fast over a speed bump, causing the machine to fall out of the getaway van, reports KOMO. They abandoned their loot, and the van was found about 11 hours later. Investigators are checking the van for any evidence, dusting the ATM for fingerprints and looking into possible surveillance camera footage of the theft.
