Does John Edwards have a secret sartorial strategy?

Just asking. But what is with John Edwards' suits? Several times now, I've noticed that Edwards has appeared at high-profile events wearing ill-fitting suits.

Just asking. But what is with John Edwards' suits?  Several times now, I've noticed that Edwards has appeared at high-profile events wearing ill-fitting suits.  Now come on. This is a guy who's very handsome and wealthy. He can afford decent suits. He can afford new ones if he's gained weight. He cares about his appearance. He was once caught on video tape spending an awful long time re-arranging his hair.  And this stands in contrast  to the elegant Barack Obama who always looks Kennedy-esque, especially when he drops a hand into his suit jacket. Then there's Hillary Clinton, who somehow looks even better than she did in the White House years.  So I can't be the only one who's noticed this about Edwards. His suits bunch at the waist like he's wearing a leftover from his first job after college.  Unless....  It's a tactic of his go-populist strategy? Look like a guy who looks like America?  He wouldn't be the first wealthy lawyer who made a point of looking cheap.  John, I got a whole closet I can donate.
