When the long-awaited legal-pot day finally arrived, Portland smokers wasted no time in getting publicly wasted. The Oregonian, which has been all over bud news, says hundreds of people crowded the downtown Burnside Bridge at midnight Wednesday to celebrate with a hit or two. The O also has more political coverage of the issue, with a look at Gov. Kate Brown’s signature on a broad marijuana bill, and a light piece on the unusual gift recreational pot backer Sen. Ginny Burdick, a Portland Democrat, received on the Senate floor: a $400 bong – from the Republican president of the Senate, no less.
