‘Historic’ tuition cut for Washington schools

Following five years in which state tuition at universities rose 34 percent – twice the national average – lawmakers have agreed to reduce tuition by 5 percent to 20 percent, depending on the school. At the University of Washington, for example, tuition will drop from $10,740 this year to $9,183 in 2016-17, saving a student more than $2,000 over the next two years.
