Seattle city candidates are catching on to the Internet. Kshama Sawant staged a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) thread three days ago (you can find it here), touching on rent control and minimum wage, but avoiding discussion of her socialism and the Seattle Sonics. Her opponent, incumbent Richard Conlin, also seems to have decided Reddit is cool. He ran his own AMA this afternoon, from 3 to 5 p.m. (here). Mike McGinn ran two of them in the past three weeks (here and here). We’re not sure if this means that Seattle pol’s are more tech-friendly than others, or if they’re a little late to the party (President Obama ran one about a year ago). Mostly, we’re happy that our city leaders are cool enough to join us on Reddit and distract us from the cat pictures.— A.S.
