The Seattle City of Literature, a non-profit organization started in 2013, introduced a new advisory board to strengthen its bid (due July 15th) to join the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) Creative Cities Network. If Seattle is successful in its bid, it would designate as one of the best cities in the world to write and read books.

The board includes the Seattle Public Library, Visit Seattle, Elliot Bay Book Company, Third Place Books, Sasquatch Books and 23 other organizations. Bridging together the collective minds of these members may give Seattle the push it needs to enhance visibility for local writers and improve cultural tourism.
