Back when Aksel was a teenager, he was acquitted of the murder of his high school sweetheart, Karine--though everyone still thinks he is guilty. Forced to leave his hometown, he returns 20 years later as the town's savior.

The police are looking for Aksel’s bloody t-shirt from the night Karine was killed. Aksel still can’t remember anything but confesses to the murder anyway, though the case takes a surprising turn with another unexpected confession.

Aksel must stay in Lifjord to look for a new Solar Tech CEO when Eva decides to leave the company. Meanwhile, Aksel realizes that his family had it tough after he left and tries to make amends. Tonje may be the only friend Aksel has.

Aksel has to juggle his relationship with Tonje when his wife and son arrive in Lifjord. He is forced to tell Angeline about Karine, but he is not telling her the whole truth. Meanwhile, Eva is determined to reopen the case against Aksel.

William's suicide attempt shakes Lifjord. The police won’t make a statement until the investigation is over. But instead of confessing once he is recovered, William denies everything and the town is once again torn between belief and doubt.

Court is chaos: Kristoffersen finally shares what he’s been hiding for years; Eva claims Kristoffersen is nothing but a rejected suitor lying for revenge; Mai Britt testifies on her son’s behalf; and William himself drops a bombshell.
