Without fanfare, as far as our eyes and ears can reach anyway, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer has birthed itself a new online-only site – SPI – for those young readers who are supposed to save the newspaper industry.

Without fanfare, as far as our eyes and ears can reach anyway, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer has birthed itself a new online-only site – SPI – for those young readers who are supposed to save the newspaper industry.  First impression is that they have landed themselves a brand. SPI lends itself to all sorts of goodness, starting with their SPIed feature, pictures submitted by readers of goings-on about town.  Listings galore for music and nightlife, and music scene notes from those smart indie-pop writers, Three Imaginary Girls.  The format is squeezed into the P-I's regular layout, so there's a bit of news – way over ... no, down to the left, there. No word on whether The Seattle Times plans anything similar.    Wishing them the best, though there's something about the site that makes me fear it's like a little kitten that's wandered into The Stranger's
